The fishing off Marathon has been great! The cobias and sailfish have been
on the color change in 60-100 feet of water. The cobias have been in the
40-60 pound class of fish. Permit on the wrecks are doing well and a live
blue crab on a Hank Brown jig will do the trick. 15 pound spin in
recommended for taking these fish with out them breaking you off on the
wrecks. In the Gulf the cobias are holding up strong today we landed 11 of
them up to 20 pounds. There also has been lots of goliath groupers from
20-300 pounds. We have been catching 3-6 a day of those! We have a West wind
coming and the gust will be up to 25 kts so be careful out there and this
may be a day to do some work on the boat!
Tight lines,
Capt. Jack Carlson
