After a whirlwind week last week, when the Harkers Island alberts were
taking just about anything hurled in their direction, the winds blew hard
from the NNE and the catching went south!  The reports were that fishing on
11/12 was all time, but got steadily worse as winds built throughout the
week.  I fished Harkers Island Thursday and Friday, but it was tough.  The
wind blew NNE around 20 mph which made casting (even from the boat!)
difficult.  Also, the fish were not as cooperative.  Pods of only 2 or 3
fish were scattered about and would pop up for a few seconds before
disappearing only to pop up moments later 100 yards away.  Drifting through
general areas where birds were following scattered pods, casts had to be
made rocket-fast and with pinpoint accuracy to even get a shot at catching.
I caught fish both days, but it was very difficult.  The highlight of the
trip was a fish that hit a crease fly and shot about 5 feet into the air in
front of us - spectacular!  I only saw one wade angler on the beach at the
hook one of the days and I did not see him hook up while we were there.
Fish were caught on 2/0 grey over chartreuse over white half-n-halfs and
olive/white deceivers fished on a sinking line and crease flies fished on an
intermediate line.  On windy days, casting skill became a deciding factor in
reaching and catch fish.

On the home front, night time striper fishing has been very good with
consistent catches between the shore and the first island of the Chesapeake
Bay Bridge Tunnel with fish up to 30"
