Saltwater flyfishing action on North Carolina's Outerbanks is on fire.  Shawn Rollisons of the Outerbanks Fly Shop got me all wound up with this report.

Oregon Inlet is fishing extremely well.  Thirty-five inch striped bass are hitting 4 inch all black Clousers with gold flash at the dogleg bend of the jetty.  Wading fly anglers are catching nice speckled trout in the slough that leads to the old Coast Guard Station.

Back in the Sound, all the bridges are fishing well for striped bass.  Wading fly anglers have been catching striped bass up to 28 inches around the Manns Harbor Bridge.  The hot pattern at the bridge has been an eight inch black eel fly.  Long black hackle with a black palmered head and body has been the fly of choice with some of the local anglers.

Sound and ocean waters are both unseasonably warm, this exceptional fall fishing could continue through December if the weather remains mild.

For an up to the minute report give Shawn a call:
