What you need to bring.
-
Hat with a brim.* A baseball cap is bare minimum, a hat that provides
more sun protection is best.
-
Long sleeve shirt.* The sun can be brutal and there is nowhere to hide.
-
Shoes that are suitable for wading.* Tennis shoes are OK, flip-flops or
sandals are not acceptable.
-
Sunscreen. SPF 30+
-
Bug Spray. If you are a fly angler (and you wish to use my tackle) you
must bring non-DEET formula bug spray.
-
Valid Florida Fishing License.*
-
Polarized Sun Glasses (absolutely essential for sight fishing).
-
Fishing Tackle (or you can use mine). Please limit yourself to one
rod. Keep your tackle selection limited. You don’t need a steamer
trunk of tackle. If you want to bring your own gear, try to pare it
down to what will fit into a one quart zip-lock plastic bag.
-
Drink and a snack. I would like you to bring at least a liter of what
ever you like to drink (no alcohol), and something to snack on. The
cooler in your kayak is small; it will only accommodate six 20oz drink
bottles and a sandwich. In other words, don’t bring a deli tray and
expect to have some place to keep it cool.
-
Camera. I recommend a dry bag or case to store your camera (and any
other valuable that cannot get wet). I will provide a container on your
kayak that will keep things reasonably dry; but I cannot guarantee it to
be perfectly dry, especially if there is a mishap.
-
Any medication or other item you should not be without. Many of the
areas I fish are remote.

Items marked with a asterisk are essential, if you have any questions
please contact me prior to the trip.
